Technology has influenced every aspect of life, and the job market is no exception. Nowadays, there are several online platforms where employers can look for candidates to fill their vacant roles. Indeed is an app that provides just that. This is a free app where those looking for a job can upload their CVs, create job alerts, look for specific roles, and contact employers. Indeed includes job offers from company's websites, newspapers, and associations all in one place. Companies can even post their job offers on Indeed directly.

Creating an account

You can create an Indeed account for free. To do so, you have to be 18 years old or older, and you must reside in one of the countries where Indeed is available. Once you download the app, you can register by using your Google email account (Gmail) or, if you are signing up from an iPhone, you can also use your Apple ID credentials. The app will synchronize the information from your email account automatically. Then follow the steps to create a “Candidate” account. Finally, you will receive a verification email in your inbox (if you cannot find it, check the spam folder). Click on “Confirm account” and then sign in.

Finding a job

The UI of Indeed is quite straightforward and easy to use. The app basically works like any other browser, such as Google. Once you log in, simply enter the job title, keyword, or company you are interested in. Then, select the area where you want to find a job and tap “Search”. The app will automatically show you the results that match your criteria in a 25-kilometer radius of your selected area.

Career Guide

With your Indeed account, you will also have access to the resources provided in the Career Guide. This tool offers users lots of useful information regarding a wide variety of topics.

Here are some examples:

• News: In this section, you will find news articles and blog posts, and some insights that you might find interesting.
• Finding a Job: Here you will find, for example, recommendations for letters to accept a job offer and descriptions of different careers.
• Resumes and cover letters: On this tab, you will find tips and tricks on how to write cover letters, resumes, and CVs.
• Interviewing: Browse this section to find the confidence needed for job interviews and learn how to prepare yourself to succeed.

Reviews

Indeed has a special page where you can look up companies you are interested in. Here you will see ratings and reviews left by current and ex-employees. Navigate through the different companies and read the reviews left by colleagues to get a better impression of what the company and the working environment are like.

Installing the Indeed app

The Indeed Job Search app is available for devices with Android and iOS operating systems. To download the app, simply visit your device’s App Store or Google Play (depending on which operating system the device has), and tap the Install button. Once the download is complete, just follow the steps to set up your Indeed account and start looking for your next job!

Job Alerts

Indeed has a cool feature that allows you to set up alerts for specific jobs in specific areas. When you have an alarm set up, you will be notified via email when a new job offer matching your requirements shows up. To set up the alarm, simply write the job title, a keyword, or the name of the company you are interested in and then select the city, state, or postal code of the area where you would like to work.
