From Supercell, the creators of Clash Royale, Clash of Clans and Hay Day comes Brawl Stars, a fast-paced 3v3 or 5v5 multiplayer and battle royale mobile game which is getting incredibly popular day by day. More than 500 million players have downloaded Brawl Stars since its release in 2018!
Brawl Stars is ideal for those who love competitive and fun games. Supercell updates it regularly, which means the addition of new characters (Brawlers) and events keep the game exciting and there’s always something fresh to explore. The social features in Brawl Stars, such as Clubs and Team Play, are great for collaborative playing and encourage strategy-building with friends. There are many game modes for you to play with your favorite Brawler in quick, 3-minute brawling sessions.
Game modes
There are varied game modes for you to play in Brawl Stars, each one with its specific objectives. Some of the main game modes are:
- Gem Grab: it's a 3v3 competition in which you need to collect and hold 10 gems for 15 seconds to win.
- Showdown: a battle royale mode where the winner is the last Brawler (or duo) standing.
- Brawl Ball: another 3v3 competition where good soccer skills are a plus. The first team to score two goals wins.
Interestingly, Brawl Stars’s algorithm sorts players randomly, but taking into account their trophies and power levels. This way, you won’t be at a disadvantage against more advanced players.
Brawlers
There are currently 80 Brawlers available in the game, and each has their own, unique characteristics that define their strengths and weaknesses and ultimately, their roles in the game. These are some of the Brawlers' characteristics:
- Rarity level: indicates how hard it is to get them. The levels are Common, Rare, Super Rare, Epic, Mythic, and Legendary.
- Role classification according to abilities: Brawlers may be Damage Dealers, Tanks, Support, or Control.
- Voice lines and skins: voice lines add to the “personality” of each character, while skins are the customizable appearance you can unlock or purchase.
- Primary attack and reload speed: a Brawler’s attack defines their offensive ability and varies in range, damage, pattern and rate at which it can be reloaded. Also, a Brawler’s Super Ability is a powerful move with a special effect, such as massive damage or healing.
- Health points (HP): these define how strong or fragile a Brawler is, considering how much damage they can take before being defeated.
- Movement speed: this determines a Brawler’s ability to move around the map, dodge attacks and reposition.

My take on Brawl Stars
Brawl Stars has so much going on that it can be overwhelming for beginners. Learning about each Brawler and their unique abilities, together with the different game modes and progression system, can be hard to figure out. You need to devote a good share of time to try it out and understand the best strategies and tactics. The game’s complexity is impressive, but it’s definitely not the easiest game to pick up and play.
