Yahoo was one of the most popular email service providers after the development of the personal computer. The service was launched in 1997 by the American company Yahoo, Inc. and, nowadays, it still remains one of the most popular providers, together with Gmail and Outlook.

How to create an account

The Yahoo! Mail app is available for iOS and Android devices. To download the app, go to the App Store or Google Play app and search for the Yahoo! Mail app. Once you find it, tap the Install button. Then open the app and log in if you already have an account, or register if you are new to Yahoo!

To create an account, simply follow the steps presented to you in the app. You will be asked to provide the following information:

• Your name
• An email address
• A password
• A mobile phone number (for verification and account recovery purposes)
• Your date of birth (to confirm you comply with the age requirements: you must be 13 years old or older to create an account)

• Recovery method: If you lose your password, need to verify your identity, or are signing in from an unfamiliar location, Yahoo! Mail will corroborate your identity through a recovery method, which can be a phone number or a different email address linked to your Yahoo! Mail account.
•  2-step verification: If you enable the 2-step verification on your account, every time you log in from a new device or browser, you will be asked to provide a password and, then, an additional verification code will be sent to you via phone to corroborate your identity.
• Unusual activity: On your Yahoo! Mail account you can keep track of your online activity and see if your account has been accessed by an unauthorised person. If you see that your account has been accessed from a location that is strange to you, remove all connected devices from your list and change your password.
• Blocked access: If you try to access your Yahoo! Account from a third-party app or platform that has outdated security protocols, Yahoo! Mail will block your access by default.
